TB is still highly prevalent in Malaysia and globally.  It also carries significant mortality.  In this country, despite several targets set in the National Strategic Plan for TB control, we are still unable to suppress the prevalence and mortality rate of TB.  The advent of COVID-19 has disrupted the TB control programme worldwide.  TB mortality had increased by 5% in 2020 compared to 2019 in Malaysia.  Case detention also dropped by 10% due to the same impact.  We can learn many lessons from battling COVID-19 and use them to control TB. In this lecture, I will elaborate on the challenges faced and how to exploit these opportunities for TB control.
